Tigers Finish 2nd in LSHS Holiday Invitational
Dylan Case, 215# Champion, Leads 6 Medalists
The Tigers nabbed 2nd place (without a 103 pounder), tying their highest team finish (1995) and scoring the most team points in school history (283) at the 16th annual Lee's Summmit High School Holiday Invitational Saturday
Senior Dylan Case grabbed the gold, repeating his 2008 215# championship and going undefeated during the event with an 8-0 record. Dylan also went 8-0 at the 2008 tourney and is now 16-0 with 2 Golds in the tourney.
Senior 130# Spencer Courier placed 2nd, improving on his 2008 4th place finish.
Sophomore 125# Jesse Morris also placed 2nd, bettering his 5th place 2008 finish.
Senior 160# Justin Bruce placed 3rd (5th in 2008) and Sophomore 140# Alex Swartz grabbed the bronze.
Senior 171# Josh Howard took 5th place, up from his 6th place in 2008.
Seniors John Williams (135#) and Sean Williams (285#) advanced out of their pools and into the 8-man brackets along with Sophomores Josh Aguilar (145#) and Chris Lattner (152#).
The story for the Tigers' success in the tourney lies in winning percentage and bonus points scored. Tiger wrestlers went 61-30 in the tournament, winning 68% of their matches. In those 61 wins, they won 38 by major, tech, or fall - a whopping 61% - which added 48 bonus points to the team's tally.

When a team wins that many matches, coupled with such a high percentage of quality wins, they move up the team points standings quickly.
As a comparison, Franics Howell Central, the team champions, had only 35 more points than LS, but had 3 champions and the same number of placewinners (6) of their 9 that advanced out of the pools. Liberty, the 3rd place team, had 2 more placewinners than LS, placing all 8 of their advancers, but were 50 points behind LS in team standings. Lee's Summit medaled 6 of their 10 that advanced out of the pools, showing how their strong percentage of quality wins both advanced wrestlers and paid huge dividends in team points.
